Hey guys, I was watching the Get Smart remake the other day and I noticed the evil dude had a pretty sweet looking table which might fit nicely in TF2 for a spawn / spytech area,

Would it be possible for someone to make the table texture with the light for the background and the little rocket models? The rocket models should look exactly as they are in the picture. :) I suppose the table texture could be the one used on the 2Fort tv's but I dunno how hard it would be to give it a backlight.

Edit: Probably makes more sense if the table isn't backlit, just reflective and I'll have lights hanging above it to make it look like its lit. I was using the light texture and it was lighting up most of the room which kinda killed the feel abit.

I figured it'd be better if the table was just a texture that way the table could be resized to fit any room, but if you can make a fancy looking table then go for it :) In that case, just go for large I guess, I think Coldfront has a table in its spawns thats quite a nice size. :)

Bonus points for additional stuff to put on the table,
- Sherman tank models
- Oil Barrels / Oil derricks (http://solarmade.biz/images/OilDerrick.jpg ?)
or anything else evil dudes like to keep track of that could be placed on the table. :)

Cheers

Except for the back lighting, I think the table would be pretty easy to do with simple brushwork and the world map overlays. The rockets would be more difficult (if you're looking for those too), but if you knew what you were doing you could make some func_detail ones out of brushes that look pretty close to that. I may try that for myself (func_detail mini-rockets) to see if I can do it...

EDIT: Nah, I was trying to use Hammer's sphere tool to make an oblong sphere, then cut off the bottom, but it's too trippy to safely shape a rocket out of it (for me, anyways). Might keep trying though.

EDIT: I haz rocket!

Yeah, the table is do-able with simple geometry. Doesn't mean that a lit-up, smoother-looking model wouldn't be awesome though.

Major points if you end up recreating that room precisely, somehow. It would fit right in with TF2's habit of directly copying stuff from 007 and Dr. Strangelove (I'm counting Coldfront as part of the game since it went official), plus the rockets are RED and BLU!

Really? I didn't find the room very interesting. I was going to do it Coldfront style. Doors to the outside with Hightower themed spawns with some stairs which lead down to a Coldfront style bunker for the spawn room with the table in the middle and dimly lit and what not. Hopefully the transition will make sense.
