The Underground War - 1:1 recreation of the classic Roblox game
The Underground War was a classic game from the old days of Roblox. Teams would dig underground into the enemy base and steal the enemy flag. I remade the map in tf2 for Startacker's 2020 April Fools contest.
I say that it's a 1:1 recreation, but there are a few differences from the original:
- Dirt cubes are destroyed in one hit from melee attacks
- Some of the dirt cubes were replaced by indestructible blocks and pickups (this was done out of necessity; turns out you can't have more than 999 brush entities in a map, and the original has exactly 1000 dirt cubes)
- Taller walls to limit sniper
- Trees for cover (frick sniper)
- Spawn rooms built into towers
In addition, there are a few changes if you played the April Fools version:
- Less likely to get stuck on ladders
- Added textures to spots I missed
- The underground now caves in every 3-6 minutes
I hope this map brings back good memories.
