Not a bad first attempt! Don't be afraid of adding some lights! This will make your works much more vibrant and add some depth. And don't use just one, use many and play around. Take a peek at some Three Point Lighting guides on YouTube. Also, As great as sequences are for beginners, background characters/reference posing, or even just finger posing, I'd highly recommend against using this and pose them yourself. This will make your works fresh and unique. If you have trouble with this, consider using rig_biped_simple as well as use some references.
