Minicontest: The Grid Artpass

Hey, Grid! Isn't that the map Icarus made?
Yeah, it's his first ever map. Quirky, funny, so-bad-it's-good, the original lol map. Don't know what it is? Here's the original page.


So what do I have to do?
Simply put, you need to detail grid. The .vmf download is available here.

Holy jeesums, I want to give this my all! How long do I have?
The deadline for map submission is by noon PST on January 21st, 2011. The day after, I hope to get all the submissions played for a bit on the server. Voting will start the day after we play them and will end a week after that, on -date to be decided- . Please have it named as grid_name.

Hey, don't these things usually have rules?
Obviously. We aren't going to be that tough, though.

• Minimal gameplay changes. This will not be lenient as artpass. All 9 rooms and relevant gates must be in place. And please, no paths around the gates.
• Custom content will be allowed. Please, do give credits and make sure they want the content to be released!
• No collab projects.
• One entry per person.
• Entry format should be grid_name . Name being your forum name.
• Be creative! Both of us want to see this taken as far as it can; within the rules, of course. Please feel free to use 3d skyboxes, special endings, anything that the source engine can offer. As long as it doesn't break the rules.
• Quality of detail over quantitiy. Optimization counts, too. This is what we will be asking you to vote on.

There will be prizes!
GRAND PRIZE: $20 dollars for steam wallet, and your map will become the official grid (as official as grid can get, at least).

SECOND PRIZE: $5 dollars for steam wallet

THIRD PRIZE: $1 dollar for steam wallet

As long as there are moving walls, and at least those 9 rooms, feel free to do what you want. We want to see what you guys can come up with. Detail all of grid.

WIP threads are not required. Feel free to show the world what you're doing or live in secrecy and don't show us until the deadline appears.

And finally, we'll figure something out with the prizes. We got a few months.
