Map Request

Hello all.

I was directed to come here by a friend of mine from AlliedModders, who said I would find some excellent TF2 Map makers here.

So what I am looking for is a few Custom Maps. I will be paying of course as I always do for whatever I get done. The first map I am wanting to get made is a map that is similar looking to the dm_Cyberpunk map. However this one I wanted to be a CP rather than a DM map. I also wanted Clan graphics included and an animated billboard in the map as well.

So if anyone is interested please let me know. If this map turns out the way I envisage I will certainly be getting more done. I have had 2 Custom maps done by a friend of a friend already and he has done a great job, however I do not think he has the skills yet to do something with animations in it. By the way in the map I would also like to have a disco room with sound buttons to play sound files that I have already.

I am running a Clan in Australia for children with disabilities and want to give them the best fun possible as their lives are pretty miserable.

Have you asked the original map author for permission to edit the map?

No I have not. However I did not want to have the Map edited. I wanted a custom map created that was like that map. I was looking at having it a bit wider of course.

It is the concept I was interested in though, which of course is a modern city street / mall. The thing I liked about that map was the lighting and the height. However I am not just looking at a re-edit, I am looking at a completely new map that is made for the Clan that I run. So it will have Clan Graphics and on one of the Spectate views it will also have a Billboard saying that it was Custom made for my Clan.

I am also looking at, as I stated above having an animated Billboard in the map too. I am also wanting to have the music I select in the Disco room along with lighting effects like the Cyberpunk map.

I have already had 2 Custom Clan maps made for me and am looking for someone skilled and experienced enough to do this for me. I pay well and expect to get quality for the money I pay.

Sounds good and all, but more info on your expectations on the map and the payment would be neat. Don't forget that some of the most well polished maps here has taken over 100 hours to create

That seems like a lot of work? I have had my custom maps made in far less time than that.

Expectations of the Map:

I was looking at it being a fairly wide Mall with shops, arcades and a disco room off on either side of the mall. In the middle of the mall there would be a small circular park with a fountain. The fountain would be a ring shape with the water spray creating a sort of dome over the third cap point. The first cap and fourth cap points would be in the mall close to the team's spawn points, but each one would be on the top of a building at least 5 stories high. The second cap point would be in the disco room, which could be reached by two ramps on either side of the park and it would be directly under the fountain relatively. There would be billboards on the buildings lining the mall and lots of neon lighting, along with one bilboard with some animation too. I trust this describes the map concept clearly enough?

Payment:

It depends how well it is done and how glitch free it is also. I have had 2 custom maps done for the Jetpack Dodgeball server and I was charged $50 US for the most difficult or complex one. I will be discussing this new map requirement with the mapmaker of those 2 maps also. So if anyone is interested and of course has the skills needed send me a PM and we can discuss price.

I can provide most of the Clan Graphics needed for the billboards that are on top of the buildings in the mall. . I will also do the small billboard which will be beside the gates going into the park from both sides of the mall. One of these billboards will be chosen for the spectate view.

No one is interested because it's grueling, unoriginal and meaningless work. And 50 dollars for what you're asking is real joke. It doesn't even begin to cover the cost for the labor involved. I understand that's probably all you're able to provide as payment.

I would expect no less than about $750 for a small map.

~25 hours (rushed) on about $30 / hour. You might be able to push a non-experienced mapper to about $20 / hour.

You've got to remember that Valve pay $3000 for custom maps. That's about $25-$30 an hour for smaller maps, and maybe $25 an hour for bigger maps. That's what you need to compete with.
