Making ambient_generic louder

T

The Asylum

I'm trying to do something with ambient_generics that I wouldn't be able to do reliably with env_soundscapes. Problem is, they're very very quiet, even on loudest setting. I've heard that there's a script or something that makes them louder, but haven't been able to find it. Any help?

When an ambient_generic uses a soundscript sound/game sound name, it is naturally louder than when it is used with a 'raw file'. Note that the volume, pitch and soundlevel values of the soundscript sound will overwrite the ambient_generic's equivalents.

Note that you can also utilise the pre-existing Soundmixer rules in filenames or directory structures to cause ducking, where the background audio is reduced in volume slightly while certain sounds are played. They tend to be subtle effects.
