As the title says i need a competent mapper to help me with a map i am currently making.
Since i wanted to try out a new concept the map is a CTF map with a control point in the middle. The team who controls this point gains faster spawn time. Anyway, the thing i need help with is making the control point, capture zones and canyon walls for the map.
This is a small blueprint of said map(made in paint so dont expect a masterpiece of a blueprint):

Opinions on this map is also very welcome.

Im not exactly sure what they are, but I know there's some bugs with using a CP on a CTF map....

If I remember right, the HUD goes all screwy. Two separate game modes, the HUD was designed for one or the other, not both.

Not saying this isnt possible, just saying you might not want to use a CP as the short-timer-objective. You can make it a blow-able wall or something, or a glass room they have to break to get into, or even just a button they need to press etc etc.

PS, its not a new concept, look at Powerhouse

this link has a better description of how the map works

...proof its do-able :D

As far as mapping your design, you might be better off spending time to learn hammer. It looks like you've already put lots of time and thought into this. Why not go the next step and learn hammer, it would behoove you. Doesn't look like you're doing anything extraordinarily hard, and we're all here to help answer any questions.

BTW - Nice MSPaint skillz dude! But I cant really tell what going on there. I need to see an overhead of the whole thing.

I do have an overhead picture; the one in the bottom right corner is the top wiew. From what i have heard the HUD just doesnt show the CP timer square which isnt THAT much of a problem.
Anyway, thanks for your input.

Ahhhh ok now I see it. lol - sorry (maybe label the different views next time to avoid any confusion)

She's a small map! Looks like it would be pretty fun. (maybe Im not seeing the scale correctly so I could be off here) One area of concern with these types of maps is the game usually devolves into a deathmatch. Such Close quarters doesnt allow for any secondary attack paths etc... As far as getting someone to map it for you, good luck. Pretty much all of us are in the middle of projects, it will be hard to find someone that has the free time to entertain your request.

I hope you can find the motivation to follow through with some training on hammer... It's not that hard and there are so many helpful people and tutorials here. As long as a person has the time, there really isn't any reason why they can't learn.

You can have a hybrid map with CP's and intel, but you can only have one GUI, and you cant have hierarchy with more than one CP

To avoid misubderstandings: the map is not to scale(it is pretty hard to draw things in scale when using paint:tongue_smilie:.
While were at it: Do you know if it is possible to "fuse" brushes to create one big brush?

PS.I have begun mapping my map ,it goes well and i guess i will finish it in not too long.DS

Correct me if Im wrong people....

If you have two brushes that are touching exactly perfect (edge is touching but not overlapping), hammer will "fuse" them together when it compiles.

As far as working with it in hammer, no. There's no tool to turn two touching brushes into one.

Unless they are perfectly aligned, texture and everything, it wont fuse them together. But I wouldnt really worry about that unless you map is huge/complex. However, i think he might be referring to grouping, or func_detailing, in which case all you need to do is select them all and press Ctrl+G to group them or Ctrl+T to tie to an entity and then select func_detail.
