Man, that's a big can of worms right there. All I can do for you is point you to either Blender or XSI Mod Tool, since you can get your hands on either one for free. After that, you'll have to find tutorials online. Learning how to model is a big thing.

www.3dtotal.com has some good modeling tutorials for several different programs. I personally make models using 3ds max, have done it in maya as well.
