Editing a Props Texture.

I'm looking to extract and edit the texture file that's applied to the alpine style pine trees. Any steering in the right direction would be much appreciated for this.

Pakrat can tell u it's name.

Agreed..

But anyhoo you'll need all the tools they suggested, GCFScape works for models too which i guess would help you to view how your texture looks without having to export each time. Also remember to make backups.

How gcfscape or vtex will name that texture? Pakrat shows tex if u select a mdl.
