Custom vis groups

I was wondering if anyone knows how to form a custom vis group tree.

I know that you can make a custom list, and add things to more than one group, but how do you make a tree, (with the little + and - boxes, like the automatic vis group has).

this shows what I want, eg the section1, selection2, room1 etc
