A Few New Questions

After watching all of Crash's videos about map development, I have a pretty solid idea on where to start for my first map. However, I do have a few questions which weren't directly answered in the videos:

1) While looking into how to create a Payload map out of curiosity, I was greeted by the following text at the top of the page:
Edit: because "Ultimate Mapping Resource Pack" that contains Boojum Snark's Team Fortress 2 Gametype Library is outdated and can cause
hammer to be impossible to open, you can download Puddy's Small Mapping Pack that also contains few improvements to tf's fgd and also contains gametype libary.

I assume there's nothing massively different in this pack compared to Boojum's? Also, it states to install the resource pack:

First Remove your ABS Files (if not it will be Broken). Unzip the file and put them all in team fortress 2 Folder! Restart Hammer, Done!

If I'm reading this right, that means I would delete the four files here and install Puddy's content here?

Second, I'm having some trouble with Hammer visually. Somehow I managed to just erase the undo/redo tool, and the right is this weird stacked up mess. How can I fix these issues?

Lastly, something that wasn't mentioned in Crash's tutorials was how to make smooth terrain like so many maps use. How do I go about making this and editing how it looks? Are there any links to resources that will help explain the usage of this?

In terms of the second question, you can drag parts of the User Interface around the screen to suit it. In your case on the right I think you can just align all the boxes by pulling the far one underneath the others and it should work better.

Smooth terrains are created using displacements, which is what gentle slopes and the such are. They are kind of hard to explain, and even harder to use (I've never mastered making them well lol), but for more information there's this guide here: https://tf2maps.net/threads/guide-displacements-basic-construction-part-1.24966/

Honestly for most people's needs, A Boojum Snark's pack will suffice and won't break anything.
You should also get Hammer++, documentation and guides for it can be found on its website.

The smooth ground thing, which I assume is like the grass or ground in most outdoor areas, you get by pressing toggle texture application, clicking displacement, and click create.
