Glad you finally got the time to finish it, make sure to get testing in here though before you unleash it on the UGC people

The admins of UGC asked me to first let them check the map before releasing it to public, so I'm afraid it's too late to not give it to them yet. :p But I shall post it here later today or tomorrow. :)

You know one thing that I love about this map? The atmosphere.

I mean, I like alpine maps (mainly Gorge style or Coldfront style - I mean, why do they have to look so nice?) and night skyboxes (mainly Doublecross's skybox - yours is awesome too, thought) and the industrial look... I don't know, but it blends so nicely. It's not like any thing extracomplicated, like Anghkor, Volcanic (the look itself, not the assets)... But it feels so nice, it looks so nice.

Changelog:

28/02/2013 - B3:
- Improved FPS on the map in general, optimizing throughout the whole map
- Changed around some of the health/ammo packs
- Fixed visual and technical bugs throughout the whole map
- Added a shorter route (little ramp) to the higher part of the map

~ Known issues (or atleast I think): I tried making the lights less bright but the HDR might have broken that, if that's the case, I'll definetely fix it in the next update (which won't take as long as this one)

I never noticed the lit sideways windows before. Can't say I like them. Think you could put in a call for custom wide window props to replace them?

The ramp looks rather unnatural, too. I'm not sure what to suggest you do about that. Squinching in the left side so it doesn't clip into the support pillar on that one building would probably be a good start, though. Ain't no shame in leaving a tiny gap.

Oh, great. This map was on the list for RSP... while it was still b2a... I didn't have the map downloaded in ANY version, so I downloaded it from here, and looked in the changelog.
I saw an update for Febraury 28, 2013: TWO DAYS before one of my matches.

Y U NO LET ME PAN!?!?!?!?!?!

What the hell is this clip brush and why is it here? I always hit my head on it when I jump in place before the round starts. It's annoying and doesn't seem to serve any purpose.

Also, do you have plans to update Arctic to a similar state to the summer version you've been working on for ETF2L?

It serves a very specific purpose: soldiers can more easily jump forward towards the door/locker at round start, without bouncing into the vertical part of the roof. It was asked for by people in the competitive scene, and I wouldn't see any reason why you would need to jump more vertically than horizontally there. :)

And as I've said on the workshop page: it depends on how necessary an update is. I would have time for one bigger update, not for updates every few weeks. So if a good amount of specific problems are adressed, I will put out an update which would also include some of the changes in koth_warmtic.

Well, you've already done a lot of optimization and raised the skybox, haven't you? Depending on where you are with Warmtic and where you plan to go with it, it might be worth updating soon.

Also, I jump in place at the start of the round as most classes because there's nothing else I can do. Hitting my head on the ceiling feels weird. Would a diagonal clip brush near the wall Soldiers can bump into not serve basically the same purpose?

Also, judging from that screenshot, the bottom of the brush comes down 16 or so units further down than the wall you're concerned about people banging into, so you could afford to raise it to be flush with that at the very least.

The screenshot ZeNewDragon shows isn't accurate for some reason it seems, in my .vmf file the playerclip goes parallel with the roof. Making it diagonal won't serve the same purpose I believe, because bouncing into that would still not allow you to jump further. :)

Warmtic has not been made by myself. I have talked to the author about it, but I am not the one making the changes in that version.

How do you feel about that? Have you given permission to have it modified? I'm just curious because I often see the competitive scene making pro versions of maps, and wonder if consent was actually given or not.

The guy that made the Warmtic versions contacted me and I gave permission for him to do so. I knew that I wasn't going to be able to put out new versions soon enough and considering that it was getting played fairly often I couldn't really say no. :)
