You can expect zz_timers to have mostly the same input/outputs as https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Logic_timer
Hammer will disagree but you can send inputs to them as you normally would.
For outputs, you'll have to use the addoutput input. A little hacky but it totally works.

I don't believe there's a way to speed up the timer, but you would be able to send an input to deduce 1 second each second and effectively get 2x speed.
