Would you remove TF2M posters if it meant being an official map?

For various reasons, I have been pondering this question a lot lately, and would like to get some input from the community. I'll start by saying that I don't think there is a correct answer here. I'm more interested in hearing the opinions and reasoning behind your answer. "I'm not sure right now" is ok too ;) Imagine that you've been doing this for a long time, and your map is super-pro. People know the name, it gets played a lot, etc. Would you be more or less inclined to get rid of the TF2M pimping? Conversely, suppose you just joined the community a few months ago, and hammer out a work of art. How much time spent with, or contribution gained from this community, is worth giving up the tag? And please keep the discussion civil :)

If I would, I would make my own.

The ones I've seen aren't subtle enough.

I'd say it would not be very professional to leave them in. And that's why I would take them out.

It needs to be really subtle and cool. Like in an office in a spytech base their is a powerpoint with a few cool TF2maps.net slides subtle.

I thought you meant for a valve map though. If I my map was going to be picked up by valve I would request for it to be in there, but if they said no, well how can I say no to Gabe Newell?

The Mount. Knifeback poster is a perfect example of a subtle nod towards a group. Or the Casali Mining sign.

I think so. They too obviously stick out. Some little reference is fine, but a url or "tf2maps" printed on them is a bit too much.

The problem is the name of the site... TF2Maps.net. Doesn't allow much room for subtlety.

i already took one down and put it in a subtle place, onto a pinboard, so it doesn´t look too out of place

but yeah, if it was an unavoidable request from valve, i would take it down.
hopefully it has made until going official enough advertisment for this community

I would take them out for the sake of being in an official map. Anything with a domain name is too obvious, and I don't expect Valve to publicly endorse one specific site over another. I've been considering making another set that is still a reference to this group, but isn't an obvious advertisement to get people to visit the website.

Depends on the terms of my agreement with valve. Would that also include the list of thank yous I currently have in the readme?

Would any mods recognize a winner or the fact the contest was over?

I might be nitpicking... but there wasn't powerpoint in 1968, methinks...

I'm up for subtle, but something that distinctly says TF2MAPS.NET isn't quite subtle.

Yes, a subtle sign contest would be great! However, I wonder... would it be a model or a poster for it?

Models like the cs_office white boards, a cork board, etc?

Regardless of ye olde media format, I have to agree that directly saying the line 'TF2Maps.net' isn't very subtle. However, that's exactly why most of our posters are done in the style of TF2, so they blend in as normal game art. Most people don't notice until they actually look closely. If such a choice should ever be required, perhaps replacing the text w/ just 'TF2M' would suffice.
