[WIP] pl_pipeline (The OIL map!)

    Anyway, I present to you my latest project, PL_PIPELINE.

    The concept is that it is a huge (as in long, not big or confusing) payload map with no PL capture points, but instead there are control points to advance the BLU spawn and push back the RED one.

    Visually, the concept it to have an oil theme (because mining is getting boring and considering TF2 is set in the desert, there is truly a lack of oil). The environment will be similar to hydro (in terms of the ground/rockwall textures).

    The map will follow an oil pipeline through a canyon (surprise!), using this diagram as a base, and this article for great amounts of info.

    So... pics will be up later. Here is a teaser pic, that isn't part of the map, but gives a visual style.

    So you Blow up the Pipeline in the end? Wouldn't that be a Uber Huge Explosion since its oil?

    Gonna take full advantage of Snipergen's model project eh?

    Sounds alright, i like the spawn idea i guess. Will have to wait and see how it plays.

    P.S. Oil doesn't explode, atleast crude oil. Though you might ignite any evaporated gases from it's surface it's also quite hard to set crude oil on fire.

    I look forward to seeing how you do this.. i hope it's not one long straight map though, zomg sniper fest.

    I was the one who suggested the oil pump... for my own cruel benefit. There's a thread in map discussion over the feasibility of this which is dated a while before sniper's model release.

    Yeah, I'm going to do as much playtesting as humanely possible with this.

    I was thinking the same thing. Oil burns.

    But yes, the pipeline will get blown up in the end... hopefully... (I don't know anything about this cinefx stuff)

    Nineaxis... that would be a cool and easy explosion (to make quite believable). A model that represents the normal pipeline, and a model that is blown up. Out of the pipes you make smoke come out and use some particles from goldrush of the explosion itself.

    Why not blowing up an oil refinery instead? Usually those are at the end of an oil pipe... :D

    Nah, you just sit in the oilpipe in a inspection cart. just like james bond :)

    This sounds like a really fun map, want to see some screenshots but i see this is an older thread and you are working on two maps currently.

    Is this an abandoned map? i hope not

    But if there are no PL cps, then will the cart be able to move all the way back to its original start?

    Holy bump. This map is abandoned and the maker of cp_pipeline took the name for a PL version of his map.

    I no that, but is the cp and the pl maps abandoned.

    And i thought you nineaxis was producing this map since you started the thread.
