[WIP] CTF_Call2Arms - Alpha (V2)

All,

First off and BIG thank you to this community for all of your help in the last few weeks, that has enabled two first time mappers to create our first effort.

Special mention needs to goto Dirtyminuth, who really helped with the optimization...

Also, Youme, Snipergen and many many others!!

The map is a joint effort between myself and Stinkpackage... (or Fingersniffer in these parts...)

We will be posting the link to download the alpha here soon, but here are some the very latest screenies......

looks good man im just wondering if an engineer is able to build a sentry in the small intel room, could be exploited imagine a scout thinkin hes got the intel goes into that room and suprise suprise a sentry is there to blast him. also would be unfair to spies and in my eyes unfair.

Very cool, nice detail. Hard to see how it would play out, but from the pictures alone I would have to say the bases look overly complex. But like I said, just from pictures, maybe when I try it things will be different

I had a quick run through of the map with Nosh and few of his buddies. Gotta say, this is great for a first effort. Looking forward to playing a real match on this level.

btw, Nosh, you get the links for the screenies I sent your way? Hope they helped! If not, lemme know and i can give you another link.

OK, Alpha 2 version released with the crash bug seemingly taken care of....

...a very special thanks to FC - bloody good job mate and thanks muchly for your help duuuude!!! APPRECIATED!!

So, we are now gonna work furiously on the beta and get a few design issues addressed...

Loved the upper area and the center lower route a lot, but people never seemed to go over the top. Could just be that we lacked numbers. Also, some of the cielings seemed a little low, I could jump to full height as a soldier.

Just some other things, texture alignments, etc.

Lol, yeah we knew about those but by the time we noticed, about fifty people had downloaded the map from FPSbanana, so it didn't seem worth putting up a new version just to fix those. As for the ceilings......not much we can do about those now without some MAJOR headache-inducing messing around.:sad:

We've made some fairly big changes to the map though, and are considering making a further big change to make the map more friendly to lower numbers of players.

As always, feedback very much appreciated. :)

I had a (private :) ) walk-through with Nosher yesterday (we were both on Youme's server when it rotated to this map). Nice map.

The nomansland in the middle, I really like it. TF2 all the way.
It is "open" enough to give snipers a chance to snipe, but also enough cover to elude them. The enemy sniper battlements also seem to be accessible to jumping soldiers and demomen.

The cavern has a nice lighting effect through the hole in the middle. You can evade the (snipers) nomansland by going through this cavern.

The interiors: couple of ways to get to the intell room. By biggest complaint is that some corridors from room to room are quite narrow. If you are a cloaked spy, it looks like you can't pass an enemy, who will start to shoot if he can't move forward anymore. Otoh, there are couple of spots to hide as a spy.
I got lost a couple of times, but that is "normal" on a new map. It is not a big confusing map. Playing it in full battle mode will probably learn the way quick enough.

Last note: because we were alone, my remarks are "colored" by not having really played it (like 12 vs 12).

Looking forward to play it full scale :)

Glad you liked it Mac - as Stinky as said above, we are looking to make so pretty big changes and should have it ready for the next Gamenight.
