Since my other map went bunk, I've started this one. I'm kind of working on it room by room, but I've got a basic idea of the map in mind. It's going to be a 5 point CP map like well/granary. These are very early screens and it's missing a lot of detail like overlays and props.

This is the first capture point.

Can't complain about much from the screenshots, looks like a good start aesthically. It looks very open right now, but I guess whether it stays that way is up to you and how you want the gameplay there to be.

I'm very new to mapping and I'm trying not to stray to far from the formula. Since well and granary have very open first/last caps I kind of followed in their footsteps.

Looks good so far, are you going to have working trains elsewhere or just stationary ones?
As said above, it looks a little open, not so good for pyros.

    looking forwards to it

Right now, I don't think I'm going to have any moving trains.
Don't worry I'll make sure the other cap points are more pyro friendly :)

You might want to use the blue team specific trains in the blue base, and save the ones you have there for the red team

nice, only the 2nd screenshot the yellow stairs, dont use them, make your own stairs, 3rd screenshot, change the lights a bit (2 spotlights on the doors dont look very realistic :p ) and fix teh stairs towards the control point! cheers and please post more if you advance.

What's wrong with those stairs? They're Valve made, I thought you of all people wouldn't mind using that stair prop.
Now in regard to the other stairs, those most certainly do need to be fixed.

yeah, those spiralish stairs were a pain in the ass, I'm going to fix them up later when I get a chance.

Looks pretty good so far, perhaps a few too many hanging lights?

    First Capture Point:
Looks good aswell, although like I said before a bit open and not so good for pyros, but that doesn't mean the map is a waste, not by far. The lighting is good and the props you have fit the environment well, It looks like a trainyard - which is the second most important thing (first is how it plays)

    Second Capture Point:
This area looks good, The lighting is ok but a little dark overall. The balanced trainbox made me chuckle :thumbup1: but it isn't a terribly realistic idea  but It doesn't matter too much really. You will need to get some texture variation in there eventually either using different textures in places or overlays and decals.

Out Side Between Second and Central point:
Again, texture variation is needed as are a few more props. The dark areas need to be boostes slightly but other than that, looking pretty good so far.

    Central Point:
Once again, texture variation, your sick of this now aren't you, lol. The area itself looks quite good.

    Overall :thumbup1:

No problem, I never feel like I get enough feedback about my own maps so I always try my hardest when talking about others. I'll get my map up in a while
