[wip] cp_fragrun

    Hey,

    the last few months, I've been working on some stuff for tf2 - kind of remake of the tfc map "flagrun". While the basic structure has not changed a lot, the architecture all around now fits the tf2 style ;)

    Take a look at the screenshots or download the map, and let me know what you think:

    Played this on a full server last night. Very impressed with how youve made it work for TF2, it plays very well.

    The main complaing was getting lost, can you add signs and maybe a map overview in the spawn room(?), altho players are known for not reading objectives/following signs or any important stuff :)

    Exactly the same, people got lost so easily, some of them suggest that to find the point you got to search for anything else :p.

    What ever happened to players having to actually spend some time to learn a map? I remember being lost like a little puppy on this map in TFC and it kept me coming back for more. Its one of my favorites. Had I not spent the time to learn the map, I might not of liked it nearly as much. I think alot of TF2 players are lazy. Im not calling you lazy Noggin. All Im saying is that there seems to be this new standard that every map has to be littered with dummy signs for players that dont have the patience to spend time learning a map.

    Oh I hear ya, you know how many times people ran into the powerhouse death-shields even with signs pointing to the Capture Point.

    Since then Ive added a mini-map in game and more signs etc.

    Funny cos I think tc_hydro is a complex map and yet people still get that.

    Anyways, I actually was familiar with the old Flagrun and really liked this new version yet still got lost. I think its because of the 2 spawn points being in diff. buildings also:

    "Hey I didnt spawn here last time, did we advance a point?"

    Didn't spend a lot of time on this the past few weeks, but I'll go on this and the following week.
    Noggin, was that a public server or a lan server? I'd like to play it on a full server, too - even if it's my map, I've never played it with more than 4 players... :X

    I'm planning to add some signs and stuff, even a bunch of details still is missing. But I think, I won't add that much signs and arrows as there are in other maps... I like players having to know about the map to play it ;)
    And I guess nearly no one looks at a mini-map in a spawn room..

    I play on Rattys a lot, hes open to new maps and will often try a new map with a full server (now theres a risk). Not sure if its in the regular rotation.

    Okay, here's a new version!

    changes:
    - changed interiors and lights of spawnrooms
    - red's cave entrance edited to fit the setting
    - some displacement work
    - fixed lighting issues of some models
    - new 3d-sky
    - added details

    just gotta check, is the old version called "cp_fragrun.bsp"?

    if so, you MUST MUST MUST make this one with a different name, otherwise you will have random people that have not downloaded the map from here getting "your map differes from the servers" error and will be unable to play the updated version.
    I cannot stress how important it is that every file you release has a unique filename.

    jus' making sure.

    I like this map and I agree about the version numbering! Fix it asap if u can.

    Also theres a real lack of signs, I get lost easily and im very familiar with the old TFC version. I think u should put some signs in and release it as b2.

    Preface:

    I haven't read any of the comments so if this has already been covered excuse me.

    I think you've done a good job detailing it, however you need more signs, a lot more signs. I played old TFC so I knew this map coming in and I STILL got lost. Very lost. We need tons more signs than you currently have.

    I've found some time to go on finishing this map. (It still is not completed) The map has reached a stage that needs some playtesting before I can really finish it.

    I am really sorry that I did not rename the map before starting to distribute it to other players :\
