[WIP]cp_cagematch

    So my cp_Normandy map's as close to final release as it's going to be for awhile, so until I can find a playtest server, I've switched gears and started work on a side-project of mine, Cage Match. I admit, I'm a big wrestling mark, so hopefully this will whet the appeites of my fellow wrestling fans in lieu of World Wrestling, er, "Entertainment." (I could go on and on about how crap it is now, please don't provoke me into doing so)

    So here's what I've got thus far:

    One CP, one ring. Simple and straightforward as wrestling should be.

    The CP within the cage. Originally I had it so the only way out of the cage was to die defending the point inside, but I figured, bleh. That would suck.

    It's not as flashy as the entrances you see on TV, but I think it's good for now.

    I'm trying to get a "crowd" to appear in the skybox, but that's really takinga long time D:

    you're making a cp_normandy? dammit...now i gotta rename my map >.<

    on topic...i like the idea but i think it would get crowded with 2 whole teams.

    Don't worry, there's another Normandy CP map that I didn't know of when I started. But I kept working on it because mine's better :p

    As for crowded, I suppose. That's why I roofed the cage so Demos can't spam nades in

    Could also use Omaha, Utah, Sword, Juno, or Gold. US, UK, and Canadian beaches, though I can't be sure of the order of the last 3. They really don't make kids in the US learn about other countries that much :)

    I was planning on it, but then again I never liked Melee maps that much (Sorry to whoever created Meleebarn, I think it's very well put together).

    That's why I roofed the cage, to stop Soldiers and Demos from spamming rockets and grenades into it from above. You want the cap you gotta' get in there.

    Its a beach invasion...Normandy was the only one i could think of off the top of my head. (thats well known, b/c if its some random beach ppl will get confused.)

    And as for the map, I think it might be beneficial to make two versoin, a melee and a non melee. Because that looks like a fun melee map too.:001_tt1:

    Why thank you for your helpful and insightful critique, with which I can certainly make cp_normandy better. You score bonus points for posting in the right thread too.

    Anyway, the first beta of Cage Match is juuuuuust about ready for release (approx 2-3 hours minimum until compiling finishes. I aint staying up all night for this shit) Changes and additions since it's first announcement include:

    + Added a resupply locker in the spawnboxes. You'd think I would have done this right off the bat but you'd have no idea how many iterations and purposes Cage Match has gone though to get to what it is now
    + Added a rampway leading from inside the spawnboxes to the roof of the spawnboxes. Doubles as an alternate exit and a sniper balcony
    + Raised the spawnboxes onto "stages," like you'd see on TV wrestling entrance sets. This makes Snipers a lot more useful
    + Added a fuckton of seats in the stadium. I'm talking well over 1000. Do not ask how long this took to implement. The answer would be far more depressing for me than it would you.

    - Took off the roof of the cage; the cage walls are too high for spam-happy Demos to rain (literally) on the occupant's parade as they were

    / Lowered the Billboard/Titantron stand-ins. Protects the secondary spawn door from spammy Soldiers

    Expect to see the map available for D/L either tomorrow morning or around this time tomorrow night. (Work sucks, but man cannot live on TF2 alone)
