I'm working on koth_downtown, an urban map. Both teams spawn on the same side of the map and push towards an elevated cap point. I wanted a way to allow players to travel behind the point, but i didn't want them to be able to go to the spawn areas from it. What I came up with was: restrooms in a central building with holes in the floor. These holes lead to sewers (same diameter as 2fort sewers) full of water. The water has a current that whisks you away to the other side of the map, where you emerge in a maintenance area behind the cap.
This has worked well enough so far, but I recently came up with another city-centric idea: subways. You would drop down on top of the subway from a catwalk and ride it to a station behind (and below) the cap point. Which do you veteran mappers think would be better: sewer rapids P) or jumping on top of moving subways?
