They said they were added but i don't know where they are. Please help me
If I remember correctly, they're in: steamapps\<steam_id>\sourcesdk_content\tf\mapsrc
If they don't show up there, make sure you refresh the SDK Content.
Yep, that's right.
Be careful though... Use them as a tool to learn from, not as something you can edit and release
I think valve is asking people to do that (o noes). Not directly but as they want to see the changes i think they want people to release them (prepare for lots of map edit trash on fpsb).
Oh the reason i want them A clanmate of mine has a name containing "dusk". So now i'm making duskbowl, dustbowl at dusk *giggity*
wow, i hereby nominate this the worst idea ever
don´t you feel no shame, don´t you feel dirty?
i smell the downfall of custom maps after a flood of uninspired altered valve maps
look at db_heights or pl_dustbowl.... both play way worse then original dustbowl and they also look shitty, like somebody took a perfect cake and punched holes into it to see what the filling is....
if you try to alter valve maps..... i order you to step away from hammer until you come up with your own ideas.
relax, it's just a little joke. Not a full scale release or anything
I'm just doing the first stage to have fun late at night
but that´s how the infection spreads
If it's good it gets popular and it spreads, yeah, don't cry
lol owned eerieone
owned? no. that's his point. it's a horrible infection.
:O I don't want to be flaming or fighting or anything, and i totally understand eerieone's point. dbheights is a terribly annoying map. I just wanted it to be clear it's not a bad idea
Yeah it is
If it's for your own personal amusement, there's nothing wrong with it.
I'm not going to annoy the world with it! It's going to be just for some fun at our clan's server :/
I never utilized any of the other map sources that Valve has released for their past games, but I actually found it useful to open up 2Fort last night and look at it to see how Valve did some things.
That's the way that source files should be used - that or slightly alter the map to a different game mode, like someone took 2Fort and made a decent arena map out of it.
Then you got the people that shouldn't be looking into the source files, and wasting other places space and peoples bandwidths.
Like there's a huge contrast between the following two maps that utilized the sources.
The second is a complete waste of space and should have been left on the users hard disc for his own personal amusement.
I still fail to see how either of those contribute to the wealth of custom content.
While the 2Fort arena map may not be much of anything new...at least it does bring a familiar map that everyone enjoys over to a new game mode.
Other than that, if you're just not really into arena that much - then yeah, it's a worthless contribution.
RE my earlier post:
I meant it in the way of mass public release. Run it on your own server, give it to your friends... sure, go for it!
But cluttering the interwebbys with edited maps....
Separate names with a comma.
