Speaking of video game music: http://ocremix.org/
Spoiler: Surprised nobody's mentioned FTL yet
Here's the full soundtrack...
But my favorite one is the bonus Federation track, which isn't even in-game...
Spoiler: And basically all of the Portal 2 songs are awesome
Usually Sonic the Hedgehog has some Killer Tracks. Like, Fore example:
What I'm Made of - Sonic Heroes
I am... All of Me - Shadow the Hedgehog
City Escape - Sonic Adventure 2
Stardust Speedway (Bad Future) - Sonic CD
Open Your Heart - Sonic Adventure
There's also some other Gems from other games, such as:
Zero Hour - Wolfenstein 3D
Funk That - Wolfenstein 3D
Boom Boom [Remix] - Wolfenstein: The New Order
I sawed the Demons - Doom (1996)
At Doom's Gate - Doom (1996)
Kitchen Ace - Doom (1996)
A great soundtrack (or, indeed, great presentation overall) will not save a bad game, but it can elevate a good game to a great one perhaps more than any singular element. Here are some of my favorite songs from soundtracks that did just that.
Nuclear Throne - Campfire
Nuclear Throne - Nuclear Throne (Final Boss Theme)
Rayman Origins - Sea of Serendipity
Fallout: New Vegas - Main Theme
Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number - Divide
Though this is a great game on its own merits, it would be remiss of me not to mention to mention the greatest game OST of all time
A few of my faves.
Bastion- In Case of Trouble
Bastion- Brusher Patrol
Chaos on Deponia- Oh Ah Organon
Goodbye Deponia- Elysium
Goodbye Deponia- Good Morning Porta Fisco
Don't Starve- Working Through Winter
Psychonauts- Main Theme
Psychonauts- Whispering Rock
Transistor- Old Friends
World of Goo- Regurgitation Pumping Station
So many great tracks with the ability to easily set the mood and location of a game.
The Jak & Daxter series had a phenomenal soundtrack.
Some favorites: 1 2 3 4 5 6
Some songs from other games:
World of Goo - Tumbler
Nuclear Throne - YV's rap
Doom 2016 - BFG Division
Thief Gold - The Horn of Quintus (Not really a song, but scrounging a tomb for an enchanted horn that fills the vast catacombs with this soothing melody is an experience to behold)
System Shock 2 - Med/Sci 1
Deus Ex - UNATCO theme
Assassins Creed II - Earth
Didn't see journey mentioned, but I also did want to open the embedded video spoilers.
New fav of mine:
Crypt of the Necrodancer OST (something like 4 additional remixes of the original hour+ worth of audio)
Heart of the Crypt (Remix by A_Rival)
The OST from RecRoom has grown on me very, very quickly. This might be my favorite track:
Locker Room Soundtrack 3
Here's another fantastic one:
Paintball River and Homestead Soundtrack
Portal 2 soundtrack is superb.
In memoriam of the original Splatoon and its soundtrack, here are my favorite tracks that we'll never get to hear again:
"Splattack", my favorite of the multiplayer tracks, which I consider the unofficial main theme of the game.
"Kraken Up", the runner-up
"City of Color", which the Squid Sisters performed during Splatfest
"Ink Me Up", the song that plays in matches during Splatfest
I've been digging on the Shovel Knight soundtrack lately as well:
The ever-predictable "Strike the Earth!", which again I (and probably many others) would consider the unofficial main theme.
"La Danse Macabre", the theme from Specter Knight's stage
"High Above the Land", the theme from Propeller Knight's stage. Gives me straight-up goosebumps. Must be pretty popular, because its remix got to be the first track on the official remix album.
And finally, let's not forget my favorite piece from BioShock's score, Cohen's Scherzo #7. The guy even posted the sheet music so you can play along at home!
Necrobump because why not
Return of the Obra Dinn - Soldiers of the Sea (A and C) (The B variant met an unknown fate during developement.)
Spoiler: Soldiers of the Sea
The A variant is also part of the main theme, that's just how good it is.
Spoiler: Main Theme
Donkey kong country tropical freeze has some great music
Spoiler: le music
KOBE YOU JUST GONNA FORGET WINDMILL HILL, FUNKY WATERS AND SEASHORE WAR
also you just reminded me I need to finish this game, thanks
Buzz Lightyear Of Star Command
Barely anybody knows this game even exists, but it has good music.
Spoiler: Level 2: Flamar 1
Spoiler: Level 5: Tradeworld 1
Spoiler: Level 8: Iceworld
Spoiler: Level 11: Tradeworld 2
Spoiler: Level 12: Canis Lunis 2
An often overlooked Elder Scrolls game by the mainstream that was made during a time where MIDI files were used more than CD-audio, the music for both Daggerfall and Arena is excellent. Being ahead of it's time compared to other games in the past, it's a damn shame there will never be another Elder Scrolls game that comes close to the depth of Daggerfall (Except Arena that has really bad gameplay).
Main Theme (Never actually used in the official game save for a demo)
Sunny Day (My personal favorite and most nostalgic)
Overcast (the Adlib version is my personal favorite but this one is also fine)
Dungeon Theme #3 (Oddly Upbeat compared to the other dungeon tracks)
Classic Dungeon Theme from Arena (Also plays in Daggerfall if you have an SB16 but still one of the most memorable)
@fl00fCollie @Tuaam Can you two put videos in spoilers please?
I'd recommend all of these works' full OSTs, these are just some faves.
Surprised nobody's mentioned Minecraft yet
Mice on Venus - Droopy Likes Ricochet - Danny - Sweden
Some wonderful ones from The Binding of Isaac: Antibirth (not technially original ik but shh)
Innocence Glitched - Esc - Fault Lines - Machine in the Walls - Memento Mori
Neat couple from Heat Signature
2 Class - Space Sonata
And some from Homestuck (yeah ik its not even a video game but like let me live)
Sburban Jungle - Black - Doctor - Walls Covered in Blood - Terezi Owns - Unite Synchronization - Do You Remem8er Me
Separate names with a comma.
