Since Christmas/Holiday season is coming around this Dismember and to get into the mood for the holidays I want to know what is your favorite Christmas/Holiday Song?

My favorite Christmas/Holiday Song is Snow/Heat Miser song from The Year Without A Santa Claus.

No, there are no good ones. The Christmas aesthetic is terrible.

Agreed. I enjoy Christmas, but goddamn I will do anything to avoid Christmas songs on the radio.

I like the one called 'driving home for christmas'.

I feel like it does something right that a lot of christmas songs don't. Rather than having a song that basically tells you "It is currently december again and we are doing christmas stuff and being totally in the mood", it focuses on a vague story about the anticipation of soon being able to celebrate everything that makes the holidays special - love, friendship and family.

It's not told explicitly tho. Rather, the whole song is built up around conveying this anticipation and letting the listeners project the things that makes christmas special for them into the song themselves.

That's what a good song does. A bad and lazy song says "it is currently this time and now we do <this time> activities again". It does of course also help that 'driving home for christmas' is pretty catchy.

Also, religious christmas songs can go suck an egg. We in the north were celebrating Yule way before those damned romans came along.

Fairytale of New York by the Pogues is the only acceptable christmas song.

That second verse with the back and forth argument is great to sing when smashed.

Unlike some of you, I love everything about Christmas. Here is a tiny sampling of my favorite Christmas songs, in order of when they were released:

I'm leaving out so many, but this is a start.

I can't believe none of y'all have enough taste as to have mentioned the greatest Christmas song.

Brenda Lee- one of the greats.
