Stare at my monitor for another 10 seconds as I slowly lose my sanity.

Then just re-open hammer as it autosaves for me.

I suggest everyone to keep 1-2 day old backup from your file in different location or drive. That way you don't lose anything if the bad things happen.

Configuring Hammer's advanced compile settings can be useful for this. I have mine set up to back up the .vmf every time I compile (and I also got Fubar's help to set this up with CompilePal).

I recommend a reboot after anything crashes. Save often, and make back-up copies almost as often.
