Im trying to figure out how to make water textures. Ive done regular textures before, but I know water is differnt. So far I know that you need 4 files. So I went looking for the textures in the GCF's and I cant seem to find any VTF except for Hydros. Ive looked about everywhere and I cant seem to find these textures, only the vmfs. Does anyone have a tutorial or an idea on how to go about this? Google is not very helpful.

Do u want custom waves or just fog color? Water is mostly vmt, everything is there. There are vtf's containing normal maps for waves but i don't think u want to edit them.

    In the water vmt, I think you can just add $tint [ 0-1 0-1 0-1 ]

    RGB Intensity in floating point. 0.0 = none, 0.5 = half, 1.0 = full
