I will start by saying that Valve is my favorite developer, and I have the utmost respect for them. I'm not sure if others have noticed this particular mistake, but here it is:

With all of the strenuous testing they do, how could they miss this? Granted, they may have just been on a tight deadline and decided that it's not worth their time to fix something that won't be seen by 99.9% of players. But, just pointing it out, regardless. Even Valve makes mistakes. :)

I think they figure that people sticky/rocket jumping won't be looking to the sides, but rather their targets and where they intend on landing. If you just go around the maps sticky and rocket jumping you'll notice a lot of places where you can see past the map edge and things start to look strange. The first cap point in the third round of Dustbowl is pretty bad too if I remember correctly.

    What are you talking about??

    That's completely real

Didn't you know that Valve is working on anti-grav units for buildings for a new map release? The entire complex of buildings will go up and down slightly.

I hear that it's based on the Star Trek Episode with the city in the clouds:thumbup:

Blue Team will be the eilite who live in the cloud City while the red team will be the troglodites who live in the mines.

    Trogs will be mostly engies!!:wow:

    I don't blame them.

Better not render something that wont be seen 99% of the time.

There's also a pretty obvious lack of work on part 1: When on the pipe as a soldier, you can see the skybox directly through an obvious crack.

But you know, I soldier and see most every mistake when I'm bored.

So I don't say BOO, VALVE. I say YAY, VALVE.

by the basment entarnce from the yard at 2fort, you can actually easily see the edge of the world jsut disappearing with the buildings hanging.

Yeah, I'm aware of these numerous visual glitches , but I guess sometimes we think that devs are almighty and never make mistakes. Not the truth at all. Would rather just have the games come out faster, despite having small glitches.

I also think that kill the bug makes some very valid arguments for Valve. I must be blind to have not seen their creative genius.

I've found a lot of overlapping brushes....
In Granary, the second cap on blue side the railings above the point are overlapped
There are a few in HL2, where you are under the big rail bridge, some of the pillars.

I'm fine with a couple little things 99.9% of people wouldn't notice for the quality, visually and play-wise, of the official maps.

I think the other reality to consider is who we are and the fact that as mappers we have a general understanding of things to look for. I know before I started mapping I didn't notice any problems, minus a few 1 in a million things like the sticky/rocket jumping stuff. But when I started to understand certain things about map construction I couldn't believe how many misaligned props I found, and stuff like that. Just observe any of the tracks in Dustbowl or the railings on most maps. But Valve understands that it's not worth the extra hours spent searching through their work correcting every little nook and cranny, as long as gameplay is unaffected. Now granted a lot of these things should have been done properly to begin with, but meh, they're only human I guess.

Not to mention, we map alone. We create a map solo from start to finish. Valve has multiple people working on theirs, I believe.
