    Uptown - Don't believe me just watch

    The Blu rebels are out to destroy an In-Construction Red team skyscraper being built in their city.
    A two staged map by @Lain and @Uncuepa.

    A3 Changelog

    General
    - Fixed Red Team seeing their own visualizers.


    Stage 1
    - Clipped a staircase in blu spawn.
    - Removed the room to allow red to move easily take the high routes.
    - Added a starcase to let blu take the highground.
    - Fixed pushing the cart inside spawn as blu.
    - Removed a massive flank around first that allowed blu to completely flank red.
    - Removed the window and added a hole in the wall, allowing a new sentry locaiton.
    - Changed skilljump crates into ramps.
    - Overhauled the last area completely.

    Stage 2
    - Fixed bulding in blu spawn.
    - Removed flank for the 1st cap sentry area.
    - Moved back 1st cap point to help blu team push.
    - Added a window to the upper push area.

    - Added a small platform to the left side of last
    - Added door to the resturaunt

    Stage 2
    - New route at capture point 1.
    - Sightline breakers added to the bridge.
    - Added new cover on last before final cap.
    - New exit for red's final spawn point.
    - Various clipping and Lighting improvements.

    Stage 1
    - Added route from underground to tunnel
    - Added route from tunnel to last
    - Removed route to highground on last
    - Added bridge on last
    - Added a flank to the overpowered sentry location of last version
    - Fixed a door at stage 1 beginning being blu only.
    - Moved the exit to the underpass up
    - Added forward spawn for blu

    - Texture changes to last
    - Purpose for platform on last
    - Additional pickups in frequently ran routes
    - Extended wall in hallway to prevent an sniper-to-spawn sightline line

    A few thoughts:
    • Last is so tiny that it's easily locked down by a single sentry. Two of the three routes into the area lead you to a massive height disadvantage, and so they're not really viable options.
    • This whole area here seems a bit complex, imo. The massive flanking route on the right makes defending really difficult, so I often find myself just giving up at this point and falling all the way back to the tunnel area.
    • The first area of stage two has the same issue. The flank on the right and Blu's ease of access (it's literally right outside their spawn exit) makes defending that first stretch of track to dangerous to be worth the hassle as you'll easily get outflanked.

    Thanks for the thoughts.

    I'm redoing last with better timings in mind, right now it takes Blu 16 seconds to get to the choke on last without a teleporter, whereas on Badwater and Upward it takes 9-12 seconds. That's a major issue right now.

    As for the complexity of that area, I think removing the flank right next to forwardspawn and giving red a more moderate useable height advantage could help that, instead of the extremely stuff that they get right now.

    As for the first areas having bad spawn battles, I agree. I'm missing a lot of the intermediary area that Upward/Badwater have on their first point. It feels like as soon as blu spawn they have taken the first area, even on S1. I'm thinking of just straight up moving the spawns back and putting more of a no mans land area like Badwater has, giving Red time to coordinate a defense. The only problem with this is that i'll have to probably put in more cap points, at least in stage 2, since moving the spawns back screws up the timings for the first point (which aren't great anyway, so it's probably for the better.)

    Keeping this thread updated on the overhaul;
    WIP screens of A5, taking Hoplitejoe's advice and opening up the map massively.
    Also trying to give it it's own style, rather than the dark grey and gloomy skybox and lighting of last version i'm going for a more de_overpass type of lighting, and i think it looks great,

    Since the bomb drops down the elevator shaft, it would be partially funny if there was elevator music reflecting the instrumental side of the chorus of Uptown Funk.
