So, Epic Games has just released a free version of their unreal engine 3 developers kit.

Anyone planning to check it out?

This kit is far more up to date then the SDK with better tools and it's own coding language - making it a lot easier to create new games.

Looks like Epic rediscovered that the community is the best way to keep pushing your technology forward.

    Unreal Development Kit

They give you a ridiculous amount of features, this really is a full development kit - opposed to the SDK which is more of a map editor to most.

A lot of people will stay with SDK because they obviously want to make TF2 maps - yet if you're thinking of a future in the game industry this is a good place to start.

Make a decent game and you could be in the industry in months.

The most exciting things I have spotted so far is the easy terrain deformation, which is far easier and looks better then displacements. Easy to create particles and materials, you can view the particle affects in real time too.

A great tool for any machinima creators out there, using unreal script you can throw together new game mechanics without even touching a line of code [sopposedly]
