Trainstop

    This is my new koth map, Trainstop. The map came from an idea I had for a center point, and the rest is built around that.

    The point is centered between two rows of train tracks that move from the point to an underground area. You spawn in an upper area, drop down to the ground floor, and then make your way to the lowest level where the point is. The tracks are inhabited by stationary train cars.

    All feedback is greatly appreciated.

    This looks pretty good for an alpha map, I too am loving that glass roof. I look forward to playing this sometime.

    You've stolen my idea :D At least the part of the cp between two tracks.
    Are the trains moving and killing? Or do they just provide a neat kind of transportation?

    Nope. Good old-fashioned glass textures.

    Currently, the trains are stationary. I want to test the map without trains before I make the decision to add them. With the point so close to the tracks, the trains could become intrusive. Gameday is tomorrow, so we'll see how things go.

    Now if people would stop making KOTH maps and make these designs into 5CPs... >:3

    Played this on the gameday tonight, was very good fun.
    I was a medic the whole time (which I feel a bit silly about now as testing with one class is not very good testing), and while I felt it played well, I think maybe another healthpack for each side (red+blu) would be good.

    full health where it is is good, not sure what size to have the others.. small in middle and medium for the bottom one?


    That's just my suggestion though :)
    The scramble for overtime win was great

    Can't say anything for other classes I'm afraid - but definitely definitely add ammo. I'll let you decide where :p

    Thanks for the placement advice. I had no idea where to put the health or ammo for the current alpha, but the test yesterday definitely helped (and that overtime scramble was intense).

    I want to thank everyone who made it to Gameday yesterday and the input you all gave me. It seems like you all had a good time. If any of you have any additional comments or criticisms, feel free to leave a message here. I'll take everything into consideration while working on an A3 release for next Friday's Gameday.

    I know that a lot of people mentioned the healthkit down here, but I thought it might be nice to find a way to make this spot more sentry-friendly and sheltered from direct paths.

    Now that I think about it, it might be beneficial to remove the direct paths from both spawns to this area, making it a good place for engineers to construct a safe area for their teammates to retreat to.

    Make that full healthkit a medium, cut the paths down to just the train track tunnels, and add a medium ammo.

    Fun map, can't wait to see how it turns out :)

    A3 release!

    - Widened cap area underneath the glass arch.
    - Added one way door into the basement (opens into the basement).
    - Added medium health and ammo in various spots.
    - Added small raised areas on both sides of the main building.
    - Raised skybox.
    - Some detailing.
    - Added Pipeline style lighting.

    Entered into Saturday's Gameday (10/24/09).

    Best KOTH Map Ever.

    I know it needs to be textured, but all dev+the glass dome was a nice feeling.

    The only thing that you maybe could do, is making the capture zone a little bit bigger, its a bit bad with six people standing on it, you just need a few stickies and everyone is dead.

    Just a sugestion.
