    Hello, I've started work on my (sort of) first map and I was wondering if you had any ideas/advice as to how I should proceed with it.

    It's called trading_hub and is designed as a place where people can gather simply to find people to trade with. It features a stand showing all the hat models and I will probably add one showing all the unlockable weapons.

    So, what else do you think I should add? Is it a good idea in the first place?

    I think you should at least distinguish between the different classes a bit better.

    You Need to Make Single Places With Space for the Hats and Weapons, Restrict the Weapons? Maybe Some Eye Candy,

    Even so, you can meet people in the map, and arrange a steam transfer?

    You should add some things for people to do, while they are waiting for people to accept their deals, etc. Now, that doesn't mean make it super crazy fun time with loads of custom content.

    Maybe a quick layout of a KOTH map turned into a room so players can play something while waiting?

    Also, when players aim at a hat or item it displays the name of it on their screen? (I don't know, if this doesn't require cheats then go for it, but if it does leave it out.)

    I think he should use a trigger_multiply and some logic_timers to mimic a CP without the change map or modifying the score :D

    put some point_spotlights up lighting up the classes/hats, putting emphasis on em. make it purty like your in a museum.

    Thanks for all your suggestions.

    I added a light_spot to the map, but a new problem has come up:

    I deleted the light_spot and undid a few things to see if that solves the problem, but it hasn't.

    Has anyone got any advice on how to deal with this?

    Are you reloading after building the cubemap? The old mats are still in cache, so either quit the game or load another map, then come back to this one.

    Thanks.

    I built the cubemaps with mat_specular disabled. The problem with the purple and black disappeared when I disabled mat_specular but it came back when I reenabled it.

    I then disconnected and reloaded all the materials, but the problem was still there when I reconnected to the map.
