I think it's pretty neat. Could use with a bit more breathing room around the middle point.
I like how they detailled the map. The kind of new red theme (the red texture) is pretty cool. But the gameplay feels pretty meh. It plays alright but there isn't really anything special about the gameplay, and the last point is a clusterfuck if there are like 3 sentries.
Is it wrong that the only reason I care about new official maps anymore is for the mapping assets they contain?
I think that it's very good for 5CP
At least the mid roof isn't some cop-out world geometry. But i guess you can afford to go all out when you get paid to make maps.
its interesting how the map is pretty much tf2 standart "buildings with roofs upon roofs upon roofs + trims'n'windows" with even no 3dsky yet it looks and feels a lot better than most maps out there
So who did this map? Dario?
It's not the same cp_foundry from the bulletcrops project, is it?
Looks like the Barnblitz person.
Ya I'm thinkin barnblitz guy. It's really big and kinda flat. I like trains. Meet the pyro map. Goodnight.
no it's not. but it will be fun to mix and match the assets
Hmm, the soundscape appears to be custom as well as indoor/outdoor and machine noises. Everything is labeled under "CP_Harbor" so I suppose that was the planned name.
EDIT: OH GOD "models/props_harbor/signage002.mdl" no questions, just do it.
Yeah, 's been mentioned.
EDIT: Yikes. Either something went horribly wrong in the decompile process, or ... something. When I tell Hammer to hide player clips, it also hides several of the buildings. What the crap?
Okay, having played a few rounds on this map, I have to ask: what the hell is killing the fps? There's huge buildings everywhere; it should have been an easily optimized map.
I drop to 20 fps on mid. :\
Dunno what it is exactly about it that makes it so, but something I noticed when playing it for a hour or two last night was that it was damn fun to play on.
The week before Smissmass is when I get my comp back!!!!!!! It'll take like 1 hour to download everything, but this is for sure the FIRST thing I will be playing. Who gives a crap about Skyrim?
The map is pretty fun, weeee!
Same thing happens with Well.
Rather than use nodraw and texture the visible faces, for some reason Valve has taken to using playerclip instead. Don't know why.
Also, I have a couple notes:
1. The map has WAY too much health, especially between Mid and Second. There are literally 4 Medium Health packs just scattered about, giving you a Medium health on every corner pretty much. Considering that's where most of the fighting takes place, it's more of a challenge to get to Second than to get to Last. This applies to every point but Last (which has significantly less health), where both teams effectively can pull away from the point for a moment and resupply before coming back. Last, meanwhile, has a resupply cabinet on one side, but a bit of a travel for the other.
2. Speaking of Last, the spawn is RIGHT next to the point. Like literally. The last point is so incredibly defensible it's not even funny, and because Second can hardly be defended due to the health packs being on the wrong side of the point, the match tends to be over Second rather than Last. It also gets a bit stalemate-y after a little while.
I feel as if the map is essentially 3 KOTH points with an A/D point strung on at each end. Mid and Last are very defensible, while Second is not so, leading to a back-and-forth game that gets a tad boring after a while.
Overall, however, I am reminded of a slightly better Fastlane.
Don't get me wrong. The map is a blast(PUN) to play on and looks great. Just that center point... ergh, the fps.
I think the other Gullywash, another recently released map, is better to play on. Also, when I played on Foundry map there seem to be a lot of ties. The new setting is really cool, just wish it was less crowed in the middle so you could see more of it. Those big new company signs in the middle look kind of goofy to me though.
