Has anybody tried out the new beta? Here are some pics.
I'm using it now, though I'm actually reloading it because it crashed the first time of asking :x
It looks very pretty though.
Sure it looks nice, but I still have to get used to it. Steam deserves a UI update
Is that... a Flash-free Spotlight frame? *right clicks* It IS. I'm happy. Doesn't take much to make me happy. Also this:
Which ironically impresses me less than their shift away from needing Flash, which always seemed very backward for a standalone store app.
The trailer player is broken in Windows 7, but that's just as well as the old one was kind of crap anyway. Give 'em a reason to improve Vista/7 support.
This is my favorite support thread so far.
I'm really glad they've switched to Webkit.
ie was TEEEEERIBLE.
i wonder if the ingame overlay browser will be faster
i :wow: the new UI
for anyone who doesnt see text like me :O
It does feel wonderfully snappy in comparison.
mmm, tasty. Very up to date I feel, compared to the crappy flat thing it was before.
I might just spend my time looking at the menu, instead of actually loading a game
Good bye IE, go rot in hell with netscape!
Wow i think i tried this before but it wasn't changed much when i tried it.
This is the one in the beta participation menu right?
EDIT: Yes it is, wow this looks epic. Also is it just me having problems launching media with this.
I could look at this for hours.
I don't like the new sounds, I would rather have the original ones.
557 hours of TF2 played >_> steam is mocking me
Webkit is... safari.
Chrome FTW....for me its working for me but not for other people
It's...a hell of a lot nicer than the old interface.
I'm getting horrible performance out of game with the new UI, seems the issue is pretty common on the steam forums too, so it'll probably get sorted out.
Otherwise, it's wonderful looking.
Really diggin having a clock ingame now, instead of having to use the shitty xfire one.
Hmm seems i must have a different taste in UI then everyone else. I actually am pretty bummed out with the new UI.
from what i've read the new steam look will run more efficiently but i find the glossy look to be kind of tacky. However when it comes to UI i'm more of a minimalistic person (I think the old win95 GUI was the best ever.) So this step from the current UI to this new one will be an upsetting one but hey! i guess i'll just have to accept it.
