What are your new years resolution?
Mine is to not give up on 20+ maps
To become a faster mapper.
I'm one of the slowest mappers around.
And to get more sleep. The internet can be a very dangerous place.
I think I'll also work with the community more and create more collaborations. I like to detail.
I might start a company.
In terms of other resolutions, probably going to just exercising more, get a good routine down.
To update my maps more often and to get more involved with the community.
I need to read more. I've got a massive pile of unread books I've been neglecting thanks to the irresistible allure of the internet.
EDIT: I should also get a job.
To work with more people on projects rather than doing it all my self.
I want to actually finish something. Anything.
I don't really have a goal for the whole year but I'd like to move my computer into my room once I clean that up (hard to while sick and with bad toe for the moment). And then I'd like to get a yoga mat and do some amount of exercise per week. Realistically I won't do it every day because I'm lazy, but some amount would help.
Inversely I think I'd like to have a go at learning to do projects all by myself at least once so I have at least some experience to go off on sides of stuff I'm "less comfortable" with (detailing and optimisation come to mind).
My objective this year is to get accepted into school for next Fall, because otherwise I will probably give up on all my dreams of being a designer and move in with my parents and slowly decay into a rotting husk of a human being.
My other objective this year is to be more positive!
I have more of a challenge, me and a couple friends are going to listen to a new music album for each day for as long as we can.
other than that well... "getting shit done" might not be the best resolution of all times but it's good enough for me
I want to bring cp_talon to Release Candidate, or at least a late beta. I also want to continue work on a Portal 2 mapping project of mine (with a group).
Don't immediately close Hammer after opening it when I got the idea for the map
Pay off the rest of my debt so I can go back to school and restart the debt cycle :/
I don't know about you but I can never recreate ideas I have in hammer, everything I do ends up being free-style. I really wish I could plan ahead properly though, so I know what I want to do and I can work out issues before I make a map.
But seriously, anyone who can have an idea in their head and then just suddenly convert it to a vmf via their hands has some real skills.
To even bring a map to a1. I've been a part of this community for quite some time now and have learned a TON about mapping, design theory and using Hammer but I've never been able to put it into practice. Hopefully I can have a creative spurt this year for once in my life.
Make a map and release it.
Make something unconventional. Something you don't see in most TF2 maps. I don't really care what it is in particular, I just want to put some of Hammer's more interesting abilities to use. Something that will make people stop and say "wow, I've never really seen something like that in a map ever". I have a few ideas, but I don't wanna try implementing them yet until Tupor is in beta and I can focus on something else.
Since koth_amazing will be turning two years old tomorrow, (well, three if you count the spawn area,)
my resolution is to finish it this year. Or maybe next year. Or the year after that. Some year.
I'm also experimenting with arena in some crazy ways. Ideally, one of my arena maps will be tested in every single game-day and imp next year, therefore confirming that I am a terrible person.
And maybe I'll even donate to tf2m
Mappers Medalion, new showcase videos that aren't just rehashes of my old ones, maps that aren't koth and are unique.
I'm tired and should rewrite this when i've got more than 2 hours sleep
