I was browsing through the TF2Maps.net Catchphrase Thread when I came across this one. It was about the time of the "TF2 Making of Viaduct" featurette and I thought to myself: How cool would it be if the official TF2 community maps had something like this as well; as an inspiration to those budding mappers out there who can watch the whole process of level design and map making from start to finish. So here's the plan: I'd like to see how many Mappers and Level Designers with Mostly Finished or Officially Released maps who would be willing to collaborate with me in making a few several minute shorts displaying each stage of their map in development, from "Paper to Final." Here's what I would need of those interested: Scans of concept art in digital form. Complied map files of each major step in development (Several Alphas, All Betas, and All RCs). One very early uncompiled VMF map file (Perferably the first fully comperhensive Alpha). Digital compressed (non-valve formatted) files of custom texture, overlay, and decal content (if made for map). Also, I'd like to offer this to the winner of the current PLR vs. CTF Mapping Contest, if they so wish to be rewarded in such a way. As it stands I won't be able to start on this project immediately since I've just gotten over a rather disrupting illness and I'm desperately attempting to finish several papers and a major editing project. Until though, I'm interested to see how the greater TF2Maps.net community feels about such a project. Feel free to steam friend me or PM me if you have any specific questions.
