Tf2 Tower Defence!

    hey there!

    been a while since i've been around here. recently got back into tf2 and thought of a idea.. a tf2 tower defence! now here's how i see it. it would be a normal TD map (pre defined paths) maybe a dustbowl theme with the towers being the classes. towers

    scout - fast RoF weak Dmg close range
    solider - big splash Medium dmg slow medium range
    pyro - super close range low dmg but high RoF
    demo - ??? thinking traps or a splash of some sort.
    heavy - constant fire medium dmg medium to small range
    engi - ??? Range boosting tower?
    medic - Dmg boosting tower?
    sniper - no duh :p
    spy - close range small-medium damage. % to instant kill :)

    The enemy's might just be randoms or the classes running along. Also if i learn enough maybe certain Towers (classes) are stronger against certain enemies. IE Enemy Heavies have a higher chance of getting back stabbed (spy's % to instant kill). Just a idea.
    Another idea i had was to have a "ubercharge" meter somewhere.. and make it charge with every kill. then you can activate it for stronger towers or something. possible currency? no idea.

    anyway, i actually came here to see if you had any ideas and to get my idea out there as my brother doesn't have all the ideas in the world :p also the steam forums are full of crap so didn't want to post it there :p

    If anyone wants to do any animations/enemy's/graphics for it would be grateful :) otherwise ill stick to using the class icons :p.

    I haven't started the game yet but will soonish as i have 2 weeks holidays now :)

    sounds like a great idea. im sure it would go viral and be played by many people depending on how good it comes out.

    Pyro fire should constantly dmg people whom he sets on fire. It would be cool if the enemys could hurt the towers. Also, maybe separate Engy tower into 2; Sentry and Dispenser. But he must juggle which one he stays with for that turn to fix?

    Yeah was thinking about the after burn as well. With the engi idea do you mean that inbetween waves you could choose whether to have a sentry or dispenser? and depending on which depends whether it does dmg or gives range? or something like that?

    After a bit of searching around i found good old "gang garrison" along with these: http://ganggarrison.com/ (click the right arrow 2 times) down the bottom are sprites which i think ill use as the enemies that walk along. only thing is they won't work when they turn... so. i was wondering if anybody wishes to draw something along the lines of those sprites (not as pixelated though) for me :) Also if you do the enemies the towers can probably be the same thing except with the other team colour (i think red will be the towers blu will be enemies IE Attack/defend :p)
    still open to any suggestions as well :)

    i'd need that in top down tho :)

    yeah it will be. i assume u said that because of the picture i put there.. i was asking if anyone could draw me that except top down. :p (last line of my previous post) :) might try a art forum.

    I ment Engy can have both up, but to repair one, he must choose every other wave or something. And disepnser would give range or ammo I suppose.

    repair?... I wasnt planning on the enemies to be able to shoot... it's a normal 2D TD not the actual 3D game. though that would be cool it would require scripting outside probably.. lol

    Oh. Maybe they break over time. to prevent them from being OP and awesome.

    oo that could be interesting.. so after like 5 waves it destroys? or has to be repaired?

    If you're going to use the graphics be careful as they're licensed under the GNU GPL.

    uh no idea what that is. i assume its a copy right of some sort.. lol and no wasn't planning on using those just wanted to see if anyone was willing to draw some for me :p Does any Body know a good art/graphic forum that someone on it might be willing to make them for me? would appreciate it :) also any more ideas :)

    Yeah thats it, after say 4 turns (I like even numbers) they get destroyed, so you need to fix them, but you can only do so every other round.

    So, what program were you thinking of doing this for? Because I have been working on a Flash TF2 TD for a while now...
