    when i load my map tf2 crashes half way though the loading

    When you compile the map, you should get a Run Map window - make sure all three are set to either Normal or Fast (I'd recommend fast for the latter two for now).

    when you press the run map button, there should be a window that comes up with little tickmarks:

    Make sure they are set to normal or fast, normal if you want a better outcome.

    If you don't see this window, and instead see a wider and shorter window with a lot more stuff, press the 'normal' button down in the lower left hand corner of the window.

    I don't know what you're smoking but the top AND bottom of the compile log dump have all three running, so that's clearly not the issue. Furthermore, even if he wasn't running any compile programs, it would just be running the previous map version stored in the mapsrc folder.

    Soooo there's obviously a problem with the map and not the compile since there's only really leaks going wrong with that log.

    (For future reference marsbar always copy your compile log straight from hammer, cause then when you run it through interlopers (or actually read it you know that it's your current log, the file in mapsrc contains a whole load of previous compiles too)

    Crashes in TF2 maps are often caused by mismatched capture point names, if the map tries to find one that doesn't exist, it'll crash, so that's a good place to start looking.
    General debugging techniques:
    • What have you added since the last working version? Try removing what you've done to see if that reverts it, then you know the problem
    • Use the cordon tool to hide 50% of the map and recompile, if it works fine, the error is in the other half, rinse repeat until you know exactly where your error is.
    • Hide each visgroup and recompile one by one, again when it starts working again, the error is within that visgroup

    Ignore everyone talking about vvis/vbsp/vrad they're just explaining what mr.blob said which is utter nonsense. (Asylum's advice is sound)
