Texture help (2 questions)

Theres a model texture i'd like to use on a brush in my map, is it possible to convert it somehow?

if so i'd like to learn how :)

the textures in question are:

models/effects/invulnerability/invulnerability_blue
and
models/effects/invulnerability/invulnerability_red

Could someone point me in the direction of a good beginners guide to custom textures in tf2? I've searched around here but wasnt able to find anything that was helpfull to what im trying to do.

basically: jpg --> tf2 texture


P.s im no gfx guru, i can get by with simple stuff but yeah... lamens terms please :D

Read up on this, and then follow the links in that short article to learn about .vtf and .vmt files.

As for converting your existing textures, I'm not sure if that will work the way regular textures do because i's got the shiny uber effect tied to it somehow. You'll need to extract the files from the .gcf and work from there.

Alternatively, there is a plugin for photoshop that lets you save images in .vtf format, but you still need to create the .vmt files yourself to be able to use them in the engine.
