Hello I recently found Hammer, and started making a map.The only trouble I'm having is I wanted a certain texture.I got GCFscape extracted them from the map(with the owner permission of course)but when I open hammer they show as errors.Did I drag them to the wrong folder or something? Its simple textures like grass, flooring, etc. Can someone help me.Thanks in advanced.

Open the VMT and look for the $basetexture line. That shows the path/name of the VTF that it is looking for. Put the VMT and VTF both in that location.

The VMT is a text file. The VTF is the image itself. So no.

It honestly wont open as a text.I opened it with VFTedit and found "$basetexture" "mlp/mlp_grass" "$surfaceprop" "Grass". I'm taking thats what I needed to find?

Yeah thats it, you need to place both the vmt and the vtf in team fortress 2/tf/materials/mlp
