If 2 or more people were collaborating on a map, it would be useful if both/all members were able to update the map thread. For example; me and @Muddy are collaborating on Itza, and it would be super handy if, lets say, she is away (sleeping, eating, etc), and I was working on the map, I could update it myself instead of waiting for her because she is the thread creator. This could be done by the thread creator being able to give certain members access/permission to editing the map thread. Similar to inviting people to a private conversation on the site, except its for being able to update a download. Its not required, but it would be useful to have. Thanks.

Adding full collab support will really help solving some problems like downloads being only able to have 1 author.

I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up before. That's a brilliant idea.

I am orangist and I take offense to that statement, I will sue you now for 1 million dollars.

I think everyone thats done a Collab thinks of this, and forgets to post their idea for it on the forums. Kutos to you for not being lazy.

It's possible that the software that runs this forum just isn't designed to let multiple people edit a thread like that (besides admins of course). That's not something you typically see on a message board.

Bluth has it I'm afraid - it's been investigated in the past and found to be more trouble than it''s worth. It shouldn't matter too much - it's likely only a few hours before the other partner can come online, and for urgent matters a moderator can help out.

Are you sure? I think people just need some sort of "admin powers",but only for the topic they were added. The code should be easy... I THINK,AGAIN!

It's not like I've started a PHP/HTML course or something... *cough*

While a simple PHP script just for this purpose may take you 'only' a week of full time work, you have to keep in mind complications. XenForo is a complex piece of software with plugins. It has been designed in a certain way with a certain use case in mind that this breaks. I would guess the SQL tables for posts just have a single "owner" field, thus a more complex multiple owner system would be difficult to add in. I don't know if you can even touch those tables in XenForo plugins. Next to that you also have to think about security, maintenance, styling, and that this is building on top of a decade of legacy code with legacy functionality that may pop up without you expecting it to.
