For decades, humanity looked at the common baseball hat and just saw a thing you put on your head. It took a special kind of person to look at it and think, "I could attach beer cans to the sides of that thing so I'll have my hands free to hold two additional beers." It took a special kind of person to look at a t-shirt and realize, "I could draw a tuxedo on that t-shirt and trick people into thinking I'm wearing a tuxedo."

Who were these people? Drunk idiots, mostly. But also visionaries. And now we're giving the Team Fortress 2 community the chance to join that pantheon. How? By submitting your t-shirt and poster designs to be voted on by the Team Fortress 2 community. Simply navigate to the ‘Merchandise” tab in the Team Fortress 2 Workshop.

Once the votes are in, we’ll curate the top-rated entries, and the best of the best designs will be made available as official merchandise at the Valve Store and various online retailers. You won't just be ensuring your place in history: You'll also get paid a handsome royalty for every unit sold. (For more info on submitting your designs, visit the FAQ.)

I can't wait to see the Kritzkast thong appear on the Valve store, that's for certain.

We should all make TF2Maps.net shirt designs and upload them.

I don't get it. Is it like, the workshop, only instead of hats and weapons you upload in it t-shirts?

more excited about posters than tshirts, though i'm sure there will be RAD shirts coming out of this

edit: I wonder how they'll handle posters using custom content or with comunity maps as the bg

I was hoping to upload my "TF2 Pulp Comics" posters to the merchandise workshop, but their min requirement is (obviously) based on industry print sizes -- 15"x19" at 300 dpi, which means 4500px x 5700px resolution. At 1920x1080, I have basically postcards.

I seriously doubt that the existing posters already added to the merch workshop were done at the correct printing resolution.

So either I'll scale the posters up, and hope like everyone else that the printing resolution doesn't drop to crap, or I'll wait until I do all 12 in the series, and lay out the entire series on one normal sized poster.

Upscale those and use a halftone on it.

Someone should design a shirt with the Hammer logo on it.

Welp, here's the posters. Resizing and using both a texturizer and a halftone filter on it worked quite well. Barely had any retouch up to do. Thumbs are links.

Uploading 15"x19" 300 dpi images that are unflattened is IMO not possible with the current workshop upload limit though.

I would buy the ant one, solely because I have the original THEM! poster stored away in a box somewhere... was on my wall until I moved.

    Easily, my most favorite movie.
