Steam 2010 - Hammer bug?

    hey guys

    i wanted to ask this on the SDK forums, but taking too long for them to activate/approve my account before i can even post a question there.. so hoping someone here could help instead.

    so i've been using Source Hammer for my tf2 map, very happily working in it.

    until

    the recent Steam update to the "new Steam" 2010 with the fancy pants skins and layouts and such for Steam overall.

    after getting the update, i tried booting up Hammer today (first time since the steam patch) , my Hammer is like.. all wonky? maybe someone else too?

    ie. when i clik on a brush/entity, it does not highlight Red with the yellow border highlights... my entities in the 3d view are all black instead of their pink/purple/orangey colors.. and my topographic views have no Grid (even though Show Grid is on and all the Grid Settings are perfectly fine)..cant see any brushes/entities in my topographic views either..

    makes doing any work in hammer virtually impossible :(

    anyone else have this problem, is it even a problem? how to fix?

    yeah, it's borked for everyone. i was using the beta UI for a while, don't know what they did that only broke it now.

    Well if valve can't fix this asap we will need an extension on the contest. However, I will leave it up to the mods to make the call.

    Valve seems to have a thing about not fully playtesting their updates, then releasing them while contests are going on.

    When was the last major contest not extended by valve errors?

    It was definately the tf2 update that did it- I was mapping fine last night on the new UI.

    Robin said that the update that shipped was a beta version (as usual), and they'll ship another update after the weekend to fix some in game bugs. So I imagine they'll fix it then.

    It just Orange Box SDK, hammer works fine with EP1 :/

    Now i've got it.

    I hope valve repair this soon, i can't imagine what caused it.

    yep it has nothing to do with the ui it was just the latest tf2 update, and it olny affect tf2 in the source sdk all games and mods for orange or ep1 still work fine. hopefully they get a quick fix for it, i had a bit of a block in my mapping so i stopped for a few days and came back to broken hammer
