So as you presumably gleaned from the title, the spy in this case is vbsp (I assume) and my brushes now lie in irregular triangular pieces. Here, I will provide an example:

So here is one brush, a rectangle I might add. The red lines are what it is showing me in wireframe mode, the yellow is what I would like it to be showing me.

So, here are my 5/2 questions.
    1) Are the red lines displaying how the brush is 'cut' into triangles, and if so, is it by vbsp?
    2) Is there any way that I can influence this cutting so that it is cut into the yellow template, not the red?
1/2) What makes it so complex? it looks epicenter-based, which is weird, but at the same time it looks to be affected by the visleafs in the map, is it?

Thanks and let us hope we may get to the bottom of this..

You can't change it. It is affected by many things, including leaf divisions (portals), since if a leaf isn't going to be rendered then the faces within it must only be within it.

Well I guess that means through proper leaf arrangement/modification that it could be perhaps altered, but I assume the process would be lengthy and ultimately pointless. Thanks anyways :)
