Some problem with the skybox

    Hello, I'm bloodySpoonery, and I started mapping this week.
    I tried to make 2 koth maps but left them behind because I detailed them too much (lots of prop, and textures).
    But now, I am currently working on another koth map with a train themed map, I am very excited to see how it will end up.
    I made the 3d skybox for the map, it has the same form, is scaled by 1/16, and seems to make the skybox material work.

    Only problem is, I tried to put some dirt and a tunnel in the skybox.

    And if I try to lift the sky_camera off the ground, I am punished by the void :

    Can anybody tell what I have done wrong to deserve this ?

    Where is the tunnel? Next to the map or in the skybox?

    Freyja made an awesome tutorial on seamless 3D skyboxes. You should read that!


    I should note though: 3D skybox creation is usually left for a much, much later stage of map development. You should get your map's layout done first have it tested, change it according to feedback you'll be getting, test it again and repeat that step a couple of times. You shouldn't worry about visual stuff until later.

    I see one tunnel with skybox textures on the wall. That's not how the skybox works. In Source, no matter how complicated you make your brushwork, as soon as you smack a skybox material on it it will be rendered as a box. If you want to make a tunnel in the skybox you make the tunnel with materials like brick or concrete (or wood for that matter). But again, gameplay first, detail later. Unless it's gameplay critical detail.

    It is simply a detail, there wont be trains like in well, again, thank you for your help
