I've got another one of those WTF isn't it working items. I have a rotating brush inside my skybox, all 5 brushes have the texture on them but the 6th? When I apply it, all I get is black. The texture is good when I apply it to other faces and it shows up fine just not this one. I have tried to fit it, world and face checked options - but nothing works - even made a new texture in photoshop(with the proper extension. Any ideas?
Are you compiling the map with lighting when you do this? If so, try enabling fullbright, a common issue people experience is with VRAD generating no lighting for a face, making it appear entirely dark.
No, haven't even made it that far yet. Let's say the texture is a circle, I apply it to a face near center of map and I see a circle. If I apply that same texture to a face away from the circle, all I'm getting is a black tile. After running vrad, it's still a black texture. maybe the texture has become corrupt, I just put another texture onto the face that was giving me the issue, that on worked fine. just tried to export using gfscape from one of my working maps - it gave me this error: Error writing E:\losthorizon_brushup.vtf (Error: Compression format 0x0e not supported.)
Ok, maybe I'm going about this wrong. I have the image as a JPG and I have the Photoshop plugin to export it - haven't done it in a long time - are there any options I should choose when exporting (typing on my mac as my pc is currently in pieces - going out for parts after this entry)? Once I have the two files, what should one of the files say when I open it up in notepad? Lastly, these two file should be in the materials folder yes? Oh, and lastly, is there any reason I could see the image in the center of my map and yet if I apply it off to one side it turns into a black face in hammer? I don't see how this may be an issue, but maybe it is. My hard drives are full will be installing two new ones including a nice 4TB drive < should be able hold my map once completed. Would a full hard drive cause the issue when applying the texture to a face? Thanks for the help and it always seems like I get the weird and obscure issues coming up when I map.
