...should Valve make more videos anyway? I've been kind of hoping we'd get a "Meet the Administrator" after the others were taken care of, or maybe an interview with Saxton Hale. Heck, maybe a fake blooper reel. You know, stuff fans couldn't just slap together with Source Filmmaker.
The Meet the Team videos have proven to be very popular, but now that they're all finished there's basically nothing else for Valve to do in terms of movies. Except for promotional videos.
Everyone forgets meet the Sandvich. Then of course there was the mac advert, aaand the engineer update teaser Why would they stop now all nine classes are done? TF2 is a massive source of money for Valve, and they know constant and exciting updates are the key, nothing gets us more pumped than the videos they make. I doubt anything would come in a "meet the" format, but just a short film about..whatever they're working on, for example I cannot believe they'll do that robot update without some kind of kick-ass robot intro video.
I do hope valve release more official TF2 movies, the fans could also make some, but I'd like to see more from valve Like just short films showing off some characters abilities? Or maybe a "Meet the ____ 2"? xD I dunno, I hope they do though, it'd be great!
I'd actually prefer a short series of 10-15 minute long episodes. Even though a feature length film would be cool, it would take them. Too long.
In the SFM video they said that the videos served a dual purpose: one to be the advertising for their games, and the other to test out the SFM. They still have the former, but maybe they won't be making so many videos for the sake of it anymore.
With the quality of videos coming from people using the SFM already, I doubt Valve would ever need to make any more, they're already getting a MASSIVE advertising boost just from people making stuff with TF2 things. Especially this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DW7D6r1S6W8 and some of this guy's work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YrrAroK6bI
I agree with YM, Valve would probably have to hire a few people just to chuck them out, lest they delay other more important projects *cough* Episode 3 *cough*.
I think it'd be great for doing some cinematic Half Life stuff as well. I bet someone would be able to pull off a very convincing leaked Episode 3 trailer... Yes please! SFM would be great to compile contest videos too, like a quick overview of all the maps submitted. I think someone did it with the Artpass contest but it wasn't very good because of the bad camera movement.
Huh? What do you mean? If you want in on the closed beta, go to the Source Filmmaker site and apply for an invite. You'll send Valve your PC specs and see if your computer is worthy enough for testing. Or, be like Youme and get an invite (or two...) for contributing an item into the game/having a map official. If you mean my method, search the intertubes.
Takes that offensively More like a compliment. If you say if I'm a retard like selentic, you're screwed.
