    Snowycoast Custom Assets

    All custom assets used in the map pl_snowycoast.

    Includes custom gasoline bomb cart (with and without snow), snow blend textures, spytech/stolen alien tech, gascans, assorted snow props, and skybox texture.

    Includes the spaceship and some rough cinematic props for the finale.

    Also includes 25+ modular support beams and 16 metal detailing pieces.

    This does NOT include snowycoast's custom particles (since FrighteningMetroid created those).

    Please do not redistribute except when used and packed into a custom map! :)

    This content set is VERSIONED at B3 since there will be ongoing updates until the custom content is finalized. The ZIP will be updated when and if I complete this additional content.

    Yes, you can include this content in the Arctic Theme Content Set if the content organizers wish to. Obviously the Arctic Content organizers can redistribute in that case.

    Updated to B2.

    This now includes:

    • Spaceship - prop_dynamic, this does not have any built-in cinematics (yet)
    • Cinematic Props - these are functional but very specific to snowycoast's layout so are probably of limited use in other maps

    The spaceship is a brand new custom prop. I wanted to make sure it would not stand out when included alongside the Mercs vs Aliens content, so it uses a similar colour palette and similar design (eg, 64 sided cylinder with beveled inset windows). At the same time, it's roughly closer in general shape to the ship from The Thing, which was a heavy influence on pl_snowycoast.

    The final version of this prop will include cinematics such as hatches exploding, the glass center shattering, and debris flying skyward, but none of this is in place on this version of the prop.

    EArkham,

    Tried it out. The spaceship has a purple/black grid on the hole (bottom area of the image in your last post) in Hammer, didn't test in-game.

    Also, ran into an issue with the large green canisters and not sure what's going on. I put them in my map but they are invisible in game (fine in Hammer); the clip boxes work, but the canisters aren't rendering. No errors or anything. I'm packing them with VIDE. Any tips?

    Oh, and as a side question, any idea where the Mercs vs Aliens asset pack went to? Just went to the dropbox Frozen posted back a year ago and it's not there anymore.

    Thanks for the props! They will go well with my space map!

    It would be really cool to have that space ship, but without the hole in it, so we can have some more variety in our flying saucers rather than just a big round one. This one looks faster which is nice.

    Yeah, looks like that texture is missing from the pack. Will fix in the next couple of days.

    I have no idea. If they're showing correctly in Hammer, then nothing is missing. Mine in snowycoast are simply prop_static and working fine.

    Also, no idea. I removed it all from snowycoast and never really looked back since. Sorry!

    Yeah, alright. I'll try to remember to include next time I update the pack to fix the texture issue It exists, it's just not compiled. Or even exported out of 3ds max. But it exists.

    New version of the zip available for download, B3.

    Includes a closed hatch version of the ship. Note that this one is not rotated; the one in snowycoast was rotated 45 degrees in 3ds max to sync the open hatch with the cinematics.

    Also includes the hatch texture correctly now.

    Everything can be found in the model browser in Hammer by filtering them on "snowycoast".

    Specifically, the spaceship can be found with "spaceship" or "sleek" or "spaceship_sleek".

    i still can't find it i filtered it saying snowycoast but can't find it on the model browser i really need the ufo prop

    I really don't know how to explain it further.

    Have you downloaded the latest version, B3?

    And have you unzipped it into your the Team Fortress 2\tf\custom folder? Once you've unzipped it there, you should see a pl_outpost folder where everything is.

    Restart hammer after you made sure you unzipped the pack in the right location.

    If you use it in a workshop map that gets accepted by valve, just add me as a contributor. Otherwise just link to this thread or the arctic assets one and let people know you used them.

    Just don't redistribute the models by themselves. I'd like to make sure that there's only one place to download them (this thread) so that whenever I update the pack, everyone has an easy way to get the latest version.

    Like the 'Notice: This door opens upon capping A' sign?

    Yeah, that should be in there. It's not an overlay though, it's a texture since the door needed to move. Look for metaldoor01_entrysign or something like that.

    * Added new metaldoor sign textures (corresponding to snowycoast B6)
    * Added fixed crate cinematic prop (corresponding to snowycoast's official update last month)
    * Added larger versions of metal_bolt.mdl, metal_bolt_cluster.mdl, and metal_bolt_full.mdl

    Reduced some of the artifacting on the skybox.

    Unfortunately the skybox just needs to be reauthored due to rescaling issues, so it's still got a lot of banding.
