Since FRAPS isn't being updated at all, what's the new game footage recorder of choice?

    ^^^ title

Remember in 2013 when FRAPS was the shit? Good times. Now, I guess, it's time for something new. What are all the cool kids using these days?

    I can vouch for OBS.

There's also Nvidia's ShadowPlay. While more limited, it will be more performant as it's directly integrated into your gpu.

Xsplit is also an option but OBS seems to be the standard

When recording with OBS, make sure to limit the video quality in the settings or you will record 200 GB in 10 minutes.
These settings here are pretty much youtube quality: upload_2020-9-30_21-9-28.png
