Months ago I started on this map. It was initially inspired by Monday Night Combat. I was going to have it up in the air, but I decided to keep it on the ground. Right now I'm not going to release it until I test it with people, unless it takes too long for me to be able to test with anyone. If not, I will add bots & see if they can put up a good fight to see if everything works out good.
If anyone has a server and they are able to host this for testing, please tell me.

Edit: I went ahead and changed it to something I cant find in the search, please tell me if you seen the name before on TF2.

All these hydrosheilds are making me hungry for crinkle-cut crisps.

If you want to get it tested, submit it for a gmesday. The gamesday schedule is currently a bit up in the air, but keep an eye on the Events page for one, or join the chat, and wait until an impromptu is being arranged.

I don't know if that's a spawnroom in picture 2, but it is horrifying. Please remove those light things.

They are what spawn in the players. Like I said, initially I was making this map based on Monday Night Combat, so I had the players teleport in instead of just appear. I really do not see any problem with it though. If others don't like it, I will delete it (though that doesn't include the teleport in the corner).

Edit: Kind-of off topic from this post, but I've added bots and they, and the map layout, seem to work really well. The only thing I've seen were the bots were getting stuck (not exactly a problem), and the CP capture times were way too quick.

I agree with Seba, they are not just odd looking but distracting. Even if this map is based on MNC, this is TF2. So people will want to spawn regularly.

I don't see how it would be distracting since its inside the spawn and that's not where the fighting is... but if it is that much of a problem I will remove it.

    It's a problem.

Wow.. this map is pretty much the idea i had for my map in mind. I do believe there are too many hydroshields like leswordfish said. Maybe you could add small buildings in the middle outsides to escape the crinkle-cut crisps? Possibly make that spot in the map a bit wider also to add some dynamic in your dimensions (hint it's to narrow i think). Something also drives me out of these crates.. why and what purpose do all these crates server on this map.. possibly try to add a theme to it and vary your props.

Textures to me seem ok, just wish i could see a theme built into it and then I think people would bite onto this map. As long as your theme isn't based on your spawn rooms....

However it is a 3 point small map that I think would go over very well. I like how you can go underneath the points and above on the point 1 and 3. I would definitely like to play this map. Either way it has a great basic means of tactical game play. Seems to me all classes could benefit on this map and health/ammo are placed in the logical spots.

    Good Job

It is a problem alright when you have spawn room filled with awful looking pyramids, people just get stuck and they get on the way, just do a normal spawn.

First of all, whats a Hydroshield and a "crinkle-out crisp"?
The crates are to create obstacles, like what you might find in a paintball course, and its also some type of filler that I have absolutely no explanation for (possibly ammunition/gear crates people laid around to aid the contestants?). This map really isn't meant to be a place in a regular city or landscape, its theme is an arena team vs team type of thing, though I do understand it may be a bit bland. And about the buildings, I already added a small cityscape in the background of the skybox, though if that's not what you mean please explain.
Sorry if I'm a bit of a newb to some of this stuff, I'm sort-of new to TF2 mapping (I've been mapping for games like Garrysmod and Counter-Strike: Souce, and it has a completely different layout), this is pretty much my first functional TF2 map.

Thank you, and you others, for your comments so far.

I will get rid of it then, but deleting that will delete the practical use of it as well. Though I don't see how players would get "stuck" on them.

Also... I updated the changelog on a few things I've added.

Haha, I'm newb myself as well... I just started mapping a few months ago, but I have been playing team fortress since it's been released with over 1000+ hours. I guess what I've been stating is just my personal opinions on how things are and what my personal taste is of this map. Don't necessarily have to my thoughts into consideration, I try to dig for mistakes and often then not, I go to far. Plus makes for great discussion.

Taking a second look at it from before, I really do like the structure and balance that this map brings to both sides. All classes i think can benefit. What I was talking about earlier was the constant amount of props. I don't know if you tried experimenting with other props like barrels or different style of crates? spool_wire/barrels/tank/etc. But if your fine how it is and just straight up arena style then alright I think you got it. I wouldn't mind seeing some more detail onto the buildings though. Like you said it, it's kinda bland. This is a great map please don't give up on it, I think your at the point where at people will play it a couple times, or have it be in the main rotation. From what I've gathered from playing maps is the atmosphere or ambiance maps brings to people, which can greatly improve the amount of times you will see this map in the map listings.

You should add me to steam, I would really like to play this map with ya sometime. I need to catch up on when they test maps, but I run a home-server that could be tested on.

Well, now that I have the layout, I can focus on the details. Thanks for your feedback so far.
Also, I sent an invite on Steam.

A hydro shield is those angled metal walls you have all around your map.

Regularly scheduled testing occurs on Tuesdays/Thursday (except this week). The servers are a little messed up, but these tests have currently been going on anyways on another server that a few of the TF2maps.net members are admin's for. Just look out on the front page or in the event section. Also, look out at one of the past events and look at the guidelines for submissions and make sure your map is ready :)
