CTF Shaft [Deleted]

    Shaft - a ctf map with some mineshafts

    This is my first serious ctf map, that made it into an alpha.
    My plan is to style the map in a yukon/minefacility style, but maybe taht will change to mayan or something else.

    I appreciate any feedback for the map.

    Update after the first gameday-test of the map:

    Changes:
    - Open up map and connected areas to allow more rocket jumping and class abilities
    - Fixed z-fighting brushes
    - simplified some parts of the map
    - moved respawnroom visualizers in the doors
    - you now can jump on the crates in mid
    - fixed areas that shouldn't be accessable
    - created new route to the intelligence to make it more obvious

    Edit: I'm still not sure if the intelligence is obvious enough, if you have any ideas how to improve this, please post them in the thread.

    Thanks to everybody that gave feedback on the map in the gameday if you have more feedback feel free to post them.

    Is...is that a flag with a direct line of sight to the spawn door? And why, if you're so concerned with players not knowing how to get to the Intelligence, have you not put signs in the map?

    Thanks, for your feedback, I new I forget something important, I will add signs to the map, but I also meant how I could improve the map layout wise to giude you to the intelligence. However it doesn't seem to overpowerd that the inteligence is near the spawn after the first test in the gameday.

    - Changed enviroment ligthing
    - Changed enviroment textures (grass, cliffs)
    - added signs to improve navigation on the map
    - Added planks from bride in mid to the sides
    - removed crates in mid
    - simplified mid buildings in the middle part (There is know a z-doorway like on koth_lakeside)
    - changed the room near the flag

    I understand mineshafts to be holes straight down into the ground. So while your tunnels wouldn't be mineshafts per se, there is a shaft under each inteligence

    Re: the flag being right by spawn- I'm sure you're studying Landfall and how it attempts to make it difficult for attackers to camp the defending spawns, right?

    Yes I looked at all good ctf maps after the first test and try to understand how their layout works, so yes I'm also studying landfall

    So what are your favorite CTF maps? I understand you don't have much of a pick in stock TF2, but Doublecross is what redeemed CTF for me after 2fort ruined it.

    That double colored bridge or whatever in the middle I think should be painted to some grey and neutral.

    I personally favour doublecross and landfall, but in generall all ctf maps beside 2fort plays pretty well in my opinion

    Can anybody (how played the map in and imp or gameday) give me some ideas how I could change the layout so it feels more ctf like, many people said it's like the layout of a koth map, but at the moment I still have no idea what to change to make it more ctf-style
