Scout Update Info!

    You Scouts are gonna love this highly collectible bat that smacks baseballs at the other team, stunning the living crap outta anybody dumb, slow, drunk, mute or Australian enough to get in the way.

    The farther the ball flies before ricocheting offa some chucklehead's skull, the longer he's gonna be stunned. And guys who think they're tough because they're invulnerable? It works on them too.

    Now the bad news: You can't double jump when you're carrying this little beauty. On the other hand, double jumping never put anybody in a coma.

    a stunner in a multiplay game... that really reeks of horridness to me...
    medics will become very scarce on servers i think.

    although, i'll accept it if other scouts to hit the ball back

    I don't know about this new weapon. It's going to be hard to part with my double jump, and I've always thought of ubers as a wild card you pull out when nothing else is working. I can see it being hard, but if you block an uber with something less than another uber, it seems cheap.

    I guess I'll just have to trust valve on this one...

    If they tie the smack of the ball with a "CRACK!" of a home run sound effect, it could feel very satisfying to use it

    Cool. I like it because I can actually see using both, not like the blutsauger and ubersaw.

    Nice, I like it - I can imagine switching frequently, I can imagine situations where they'd both be useful - unlike the blutsauger/ubersaw.

    Although parting with my double jump is not so great, and this wouldn't be totally effective, (in almost any situation) it could be useful on snipers or any other n00b that is dumb enough to stand still. Cant wait till they unveail the rest! Best for last baby!

    the pyro blast was already a harsh blow to the ubercharge's effectiveness, now they have baseballs to worry about too.

    The thing about the pyro blast though is that you could just kill the pyro even as you're getting pushed around. With the baseball, you can want to kill the scout all you want, but oh wait, you're stunned.

    Not bad in my opinion, but I hope they won't go overboard with any more updates that take control away from players. The Pyro, Heavy and Scout having the ability is enough already...

    EDIT: But of course, Valve never told us how long you will be stunned. What if it caps at 2 seconds or something? That's not terrible. Valve could easily nerf it too. I wouldn't worry about ubers becoming underpowered at all.

    i'm very surprised to see valve putting stunners into the game at all, natascha is bad enough. i mean it's alright to use vs say scouts, but when a soldier is is being natascha'd, or a pyro... it's just not fun.
    i mean this is one thing i quickly discounted when i was (just as a fun excercise) designing potential new classes/abilities for tf2.

    since it says that stun time is increased the further the ball flies, i imagine it'll have accuracy/trajectory similar to a flare gun, but hopefully will lack a crosshair for aiming, and perhaps even require some setup time (i.e. taking out a ball and tossing it into the air animations)

    on the other hand, if the baseball attack also can do 5 damage to someone with only 5 hp left on top of it's primary effect, it'll make for some quite entertaining kills



    i hope the next thing the reveal is the new game mode they have talked about...

    Seeing as the "pattern" for the Heavy update was map - weapon - map - weapon - mode/map - weapon, it is likely that we'll get info on the new mode today.

    You Americans are lucky...you can wake up, wait a couple of hours and then see the update, while the rest of us have to wait until the day is almost over. :(

    That really makes scout much more defensive, but we have to see that in use and few weeks after the update release.

    But first i´m going to finish my dont touch sandwich achievement.
